Kurzbiografie
Venezuelan pianist Gabriel Chakarji leads this NYC-based trio exploring his original compositions through a rich fusion of Jazz and Afro-Venezuelan traditions. This musical journey is reflected directly in the repertoire and the ways the trio interacts with each other. The songs can live in three different worlds at once—a South American bass groove, modern jazz drumming, and montuno or lyrical piano—interwoven through deep trio interaction.
Motivation
We seek to share our music’s unique cultural fusion on an international stage and engage with the JazzLab’s mentors and community. Gabriel’s vision bridges Afro-Latin and jazz traditions to reflect themes of diaspora, unity, and shared roots in African rhythm. Motivation
My s.a jazz trio has been working together for four years, creating original music and distinctive arrangements. Our goal began with sharing Ecuadorian traditional rhythms with European audiences, as they are often not well known. The response from the Dutch audience has always been positive. It would be an honor to perform for a Swiss audience and learn from mentors like Roberta Gamberini, with whom I connect as a singer. Our sound and tightness as a band distinguish us, and we want to share it

Second Naivety crafts a captivating jazz-folk sound, building multi-layered compositions from simple foundations. Regularly performing at venues around Amsterdam such as Bimhuis Cafe, Splendor and Ramses Shaffy Huis, the band recently released their debut record, First Fruits.
Motivation
Shortly after recording our first record as a band, our drummer received a prestige scholarship to complete a Masters at Manhattan School of Music, resulting in us being divided between Amsterdam and New York, and can reunite only over the summer (While during the rest of the year we work with a sub drummer). Therefore, this is an immensely important and rather rare opportunity for us to perform our music together, as our original drummer will be coming back to Europe during that time.
